A faster, more cost-effective installation for the Hiab 013T crane is available this year from body manufacturers Ingimex for the Ford One-Stop programme.

The Ford One-Stop Dropside now offers safe lifting capability with the option of the Hiab 013T crane, which can lift weights of up to 998kg at 2.1 metres. The Hiab 013T can be fitted by Ingimex to any new or existing twin rear wheel Ford Transit One-Stop dropside.

Research and development is a high priority for Telford-based Ingimex, which has worked closely with Hiab to achieve an intelligent manufacturing solution. Ingimex Managing Director Justin Gallen said: “The traditional approach would be to install the crane directly to the vehicle chassis using a unique subframe, and then to build a bespoke body conversion around it. Our approach irons out the variations by uniting a standardised crane mount, which is pre-designed and pre-tested, with the One-Stop body: the existing base body assembly is not modified. This approach extends to the wiring which is pre-manufactured and sealed to eliminate any sources of unreliability that could come potentially from traditional bespoke build.”

All Hiab crane functions, such as slewing, lifting and reach, are hydraulically operated. The electro-hydraulic powerpack is mounted on the headboard for easy access, at the same time optimising loadspace and payload. A secondary headboard protects the installation.

Justin Gallen commented: “One of the most significant gains is the rapid turnaround: because the installation has been pre-validated, the Hiab can normally be installed within twenty four hours. The end result is a compact and lightweight installation, with no modifications to the subframe or bodysides, which is extremely cost-effective. Operators can be certain of a high performance capability to specified standards, and an installation that meets the most stringent safety requirements.”

The HIAB 013T crane is available in pipeline or retrofit from Ingimex for the Ford One-Stop programme.
