Managing Director Justin Gallen said the award underlines the company’s commitment to engineering and manufacturing excellence and is a tribute to the skills of its dedicated workforce.

Telford-based vehicle body manufacturer Ingimex Ltd has been awarded “Best LCV Body Builder 2005” by the Institute of Transport Management.

Making the announcement, Institute Director Mr Patrick Sheedy said: “By accrediting Ingimex with this award, the Institute is paying tribute to a company which is at the forefront of the movement within the industry, towards closer cooperation between manufacturers, to provide the end user with a ‘one stop’ ready to work solution.”

The award is granted on the basis of extensive research conducted by the Institute’s research team into the commercial vehicle sector. Ratings were based on the following key attributes: investment; science and innovation; best practice; flexible manufacturing systems; niche products/model variants; just-in-time supplies; design platform rationalisation; equipment levels and safety.

Mr Sheedy said: “Trailer and body manufacturing is a relatively small sector within the automotive industry, the business of which has historically been driven more by business pragmatism than consumer choice. Leading LCV Body manufacturer Ingimex, have tended to buck this trend and have been working closely with all leading automotive vehicle manufacturers to convert LCV chassis into high quality utility vehicles for a diverse range of markets and customers. For example, its recent demonstration of a Hiab crane installation on a Ford drop-side Transit is as a direct result of the close co-operation between Ingimex and Ford, as part of its ‘one-stop’ range of ready-for-work vehicle solutions.”

“Similarly, Ingimex is helping Vauxhall make 2005 its "year of the conversion" to emphasise the company's commitment to provide a wide choice of specialist vehicles alongside its van range. The standard range of F2 dropside body systems from Ingimex has been extended to include the Nissan Cabstar, Iveco Daily, Renault Master, Vauxhall Movano, Citroen Relay, Peugeot Boxer and Fiat Ducato.”

Commenting on the announcement, Ingimex Managing Director Justin Gallen said, “We’re delighted to be named ‘Best LCV Body Builder 2005’. The award underlines our commitment to engineering and manufacturing excellence and is a tribute to the skills of our dedicated workforce.”
